Nick sat down behind the wheel. "Do we have any contacts in Vancouver?"
"No," Karr answered.
"Well, why the hell not? It's not like we don't spend enough time here!" Nick retorted irritably.
"Yes, but how much of that time is ever spent working?"
Not much, since they usually only came for downtime with Alex. "Okay, you have point." Nick sighed. "Then we're going to have to do this the hard way. Random patrols, random interrogations. Find the most likely places with the most likely people and start shaking until something turns up."
"That is not a very efficient search method."
"I'm well aware of that, Karr. If you've got any other suggestions, I'm open to hear them."
Karr stayed silent.
"That's what I thought." Nick started up the Stealth and pulled back onto the road. "Let's start with downtown, since we're already here. Standard search pattern, Karr."
A map of downtown Vancouver appeared on the monitor, overlaid with the cross-crossing lines of a search grid. Nick aimed for the nearest section and they started their hunt.
